'Choodare', a Kshetrayya padam forms the pivot of maami's engaging elucidation of Abhisarika. In a pleasant departure from convention, instead of one, the demo is done by three dancers with each expressing a particular rasa.
In a long, no-holds-barred discussion, the attributes of each nayika are analyzed threadbare by the Guru who compares and contrasts Abhisarika with other nayikas to bring out the subtle differences between them. The lively and informal student-teacher interaction is marked by enlightening digressions that cover different heroines, different contexts and a host of padams and javalis from the repertoire of well-known composers. It brings into focus not only the intricacies of Nayikabhava, but also the unique teaching methodology of Kalanidhi maami and the intensity of Guru-Sishya relationship which is the cornerstone of our culture.
Maami provides some practical tips for teachers and also students at different levels- beginners, those reasonably well-trained and foreign students who are not very familiar with our cultural milieu. There is a wealth of information on how to approach the composition, understand its meaning and the mood it portrays before actually getting down to performance.

Sanchari Bhava - the stated and the suggested Jayanthi Subramaniam Bharatanatyam, the classical style of dance of Tamilnadu is one of the most developed, highly structured and wellcodified systems of dance in the world. The three main aspects of Bharatanatyam are Nritta (pure dance), Nritya (expressive dance) and Natya (dramatic element). Nritya is expressive dance, or dance that conveys a particular idea, story, character, mood or situation. Bharatha, in his Natya Sastra, speaks of a four fold system of abhinaya or audio visual communication that may be used to communicate a particular theme. Among the four fold system of abhinaya, satvika abhinaya or interplay of emotions exhibited by a sensitive and mature artist and may be considered as the soul of a Bharathanatyam performance. The Rasa Sutra says that a harmonious blend of the vibhavas, anubhavas and vyabicharibhavas gives rise to Rasa or aesthetic experience. Vyabichari bhavas, also referred to as sanchari bhavas, are light, fleeting emotions that appear and disappear in quick succession and serve to strengthen the sthayi bhava or permanent emotion in a song. This 2DVD & 2Audio CD seeks to explore the scope and usage of Sanchari Bhava with reference to the items of a traditional Bharatanatyam Margam. Sabdam (Kandane unnai) Ragamalika- Misra Chapu
